Wordpress 2.1.2

Version 2.1.2 is available and if you have recently installed version 2.1.1, you should upgrade to WordPress 2.1.2 immediately. Too bad, :( just installed and the problems come. The previous version may include a security exploit that was added by a cracker! Imagine how could this happened. Anyway, this advise comes directly from wordpress.org.

WordPress 2.1.1 dangerous, Upgrade to 2.1.2

Long story short: If you downloaded WordPress 2.1.1 within the past 3-4 days, your files may include a security exploit that was added by a cracker, and you should upgrade all of your files to 2.1.2 immediately.

It was determined that a cracker had gained user-level access to one of the servers that powers wordpress.org. They modified two files in WP to include code that would allow for remote PHP execution. Although it may not affect everyone who have downloaded 2.1.1 but better be safe than sorry.

I was one of those who installed 2.1.1 last week. But never mind, at least it allows me to practise backup and upgrade. It’s ok since i haven’t been posting or tweaking the site yet. I just did mine about 2 hours ago. First time. Easy though :)
