Civil Servants + Pay Raise = ?

I would like to congratulate all govenrment servants for the recent pay raise news. However, don’t forget, you will get the raise only in July. End July. Being typical Malaysian, I am sure that you are already calculating what do to with the extra money but I don’t think it will be on increasing your savings or emergency funds. Proof me wrong.

Now with the raise, a lot of people would want all government departments to improve.

Will there be a significant increase in productivity? Will the waiting time be shorten? I mean like reports for accidents, approval for applications, feedbacks etc..

I would like to see more smiles and less bureaucracy. Everyone would want that. A visit to any government office should be fun and not stressful like current. I don’t mean by installing an indoor playground. I would also want problems to be solved at one place rather than be pushed around all over the building but in the end no one knows who handles what. And most importantly, I would like to be treated equally. You should pay attention to me even though I am not a Dato’, a Tan Sri or a prominent business man. This will be a long post if I don’t stop now .. ha.. ha.. FYI, all are based on past experienced.

It is not all bad, I agree that the services have improved but the perception is still there. Sesiapa yang kerja gomen tu, jangan marah ye!

Anyway, there is also another problem. The effect of the pay raise, where traders are raising prices of certain items as they please. Although there are measures being taken but please look deeper into this problem. Some traders are getting away by reducing portions rather than raising prices. What are the officers from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry going to do about this ???

What some of my friends are saying regarding the price increase, in their on words :
Sazali, Sintok > Teloq RM7.20 sepapan 30 biji, dulu aku beli RM5.80 - 6.40 je sepapan, mungkin ayam makan tepung gandum, minum minyak masak kut. Buah oren sunkis pun dari 50sen dah jadi 60 sebijik. Paling best member aku terkena beli derian kampong, RM12 sekiloooooo, pehhhh .. sebijik RM30 lebihhhh.

Pak Ngah, Kota Damansara > Semalam aku gi beli burger kat simpang rumah aku, bro burger tu dah tampal notis nak naik harga start 1 jun ni sebab Ramli burger pun nak naik regha.. betul la kata hang tu, ayam la ni makan dedak buat dari tepung gandum, uli pakai minyak masak.

So, back to the question, Civil Servants + Pay Raise = ?

New car sales should increase in July onwards, driving Malaysian automotive industries (?). Viva won’t sell well due to government servant can afford more expensive car, A one time purchase with lifetime burden. Day-to-day expense will increase with the price hike here and there nullifying the objective of giving more buying power to rakyat. And what happen to private sector who still earn the same?

Wan, tak marah pun…memang ada kebenaran berkenaan dgn apa yg Wan cakap tu. ( hehehe jgn lupa yr wife pun keje gomen jugak ).

Birokrasi di mana2. Birokrasi melambatkan proses segala-galanya. Dalam hal buat keputusan dan tindakan memang mendera setiap org yang memerlukan perkhidmatan yang cepat dan cekap.

Birokrasi ada baik dan buruknya. Tapi bagi Ktom personally ler…i really hates bureaucracy. Sebab apa tau…bila nak minta apa-apa semuanya nak dalam hitam putih, nak kena tunggu org tu dan org ni, jika tidak nanti dianggap melanggar seniority atau power pulak. Bila nak maju jika sesuatu perkara mengambil masa yg lama utk diproses sedangkan org lain dah 10 langkah ke depan tapi kita masih belum memulakan langkah?

Anyway jika gaji naik, harga barangan naik buat apa? Kesian org kat kampung yg kerja menoreh getah, bersawah padi tu…jika harga brgn naik akibat drp kenaikan pendapatan niayalah org2 kampung yg tak keje gomen. Mereka tu dah la pendapatan tak seberapa, harga barang keperluan asas pulak naik….tak tahulah apa yg ktom cakap ni betul atau tidak. Tapi bahang kenaikan harga barang turut sama kita rasakan apatah lagi org2 miskin di kampung/pendalaman sana…

    Sori, terpanjang pulak.

Well, although now I’m not facing the price raise yet, since I am still a student. I do think that this issue is just normal..Why normal? Because the price will never dropped down, but keep increasing..Just like the age, hahaha..Sorry for the lame joke..

InsyaAllah in 2010 I will be the goverment servant as teacher, but I think it is different with others profession, just my opinion. But my client will be the student itself, so by hook or by crook, I need to serve them better la..I hope so..Pray for me ok! ^__^

I want to write more but it seems ktom had expressed it earlier, so thanks to her.. =)

Selamat pagi cikgu … ha.. ha.. Bat … I respect teachers a lot especially those who loves teaching not the ones that have to teach, get it? I don’t have complaints with teachers nor those working in hospitals. They are a very dedicated group.

Anyway, Ktom has actually done the translation of my post to Bahasa Malaysia. I think I have nothing to say anymore. So … for those who is reading this post, you get both version in one post .. 2 in 1 … ha..ha..

Jangan lah ‘angin’ Ktom, relaks .. enjoy .. kalau kita boleh ubah, kita ubah, kalau kita boleh tegur .. kita tegur. Itu adalah lebih baik dari berdiam diri. By the way, my wife is considered semi-goverment la … tangga gaji and gred berbeza dengan Jabatan.

ShutterSpeaks, Those working in private sectors will not gain anything, no pay raise but prices of goods increase. Too bad. We are not getting anything but due to civil servants got their pay raise, we have to pay RM1.80 for Milo now.

Bat is correct that price will never go down. But to increase it everytime civil cervants get their pay raise or bonus is not good.

civil servant + pay raise = higher price

Huhhh.. I am wondering, the petrol price increased, all the goods price increased.. and now, the civil servant get a pay raise, the price is increased too.. What is the relevancy? After all, government staff is only about 5% of the country..
