Wordpress 2.2 - An Upgrade
June 11th, 2007 at 10:41 pm by azwan. Filed under Wordpress.Yeh! Finally this site’s Wordpress 2.2. Only the backup was a bit slow thanks to Streamyx. So far everything is ok and all of the plugins that I’m using have no problems with version 2.2 … yet.
What’s new?
If you like the automatic widgets, now it is a default feature.
If you like the preview at the bottom of the page after you ’save and continue editing’ on the old one, this version has removed it. The preview is now displayed in a new window/tab through a link.
Wordpress 2.2 also claims that it will protect you from activating a plugin or editing a file that will break your blog. However, I got a problem when installing adsense-deluxe last night which it didn’t give any warning. Hmmm. wonder why? Will try again later.
Other than that, I didn’t notice anything else. Not yet at the moment. So if you see any problems with my blog let me know. Technical problems ok, if you don’t like how it looks or what I write about, just go away. You don’t need to let me know .. ha..ha..
I’m done with the upgrade, what about you? For a step by step, go here.

Thank you streamyx..hehehehe i still stay with previous version..will be upgrade soon.

Ya, thank to Streamyx, wtf! I hate it when it gets slow at the time you want it normal. By the way how is the new site, have you found a suitable host?
haven’t upgrade yet, i don’t when i will. wordpress 2.1.3 work well for me, at least for now. can upgrade using fantastico?
azwan reply on June 13th, 2007 8:33 am:
According to WordPress (as the link I provided) there are 5 steps if you upgrade manually.
Step 1: Backup Database and All Files Tables
Step 2: Deactivate Plugins
Step 3: Overwrite Files
Step 4: Run the upgrade script
Step 5: Reactivate Plugins
If you’re using Fantastico, it should be much easier. Once your hosting company upgrade to the latest WordPress version, you should see the “update link” when you open up Fantastico. Although it is only one click but it is still advisable to do step 1 and 2 above before you click on that “update link” button and step 5 after that. But that’s is theory to me as I don’t use Fantastico. Hope that helps.

yup, everybody should upgrade as there will be no update for previous branch later. only for 2.2 branch

Hmmm, this can be difficult for those who don’t know too but if they’re using Fantastico i think the problem should be less.
I’ve stopped using Streamyx and now I’m using Jaring. Which is not bad and not that great. I’ve upgraded WP2.2 and it seems cool to me
azwan reply on June 13th, 2007 8:35 am:
Wanted to switch Jaring and did send them an email asking whether my are is available or not. That was 3 year ago and still no reply .. hampeh!
OMG, wait until I’m back to college first la..Don’t have much time and mood to upgrade in CC..hehe..
azwan reply on June 13th, 2007 8:38 am:
Hmmm, upgrading in CC .. never tried that before. Wonder whether will have problems or not.
There is not much different actually but if you want support then you need to upgrade. It difficult to support updated plugins on old version of wordpress.
Just installl 2.2..hehe so bz ke? Mesti best menghabiskan masa semalam bersama streamyx..hehe
