Millionaires Planet

August 20th, 2007 at 5:00 pm by azwan. Filed under Managing Money.

Millionaires are from a different PlanetI didn’t learn about money in school. School never thought me a single thing about managing money. I usually get RM10 per week, my father never missed that. From that RM10, RM5 to RM7 is used for food. I would keep at least RM1 for future expenses and RM2 to RM3 for my comics. My wants and needs determined my spendings and savings and not what I learned from school.

The same thing repeated when I was in my university. MARA loaned me some money so that I could study in UUM (Universiti Utara Malaysia), and yes … I studied locally :) . The money was given to me at the start of every semester and I was supposed to manage it from there. At times I don’t face any problem and at times, there was my father whom I can fall back to. And again, my university also does not taught me how to manage my money. It was my wants and needs.

The problem was, it’s difficult to differentiate between my wants and needs.

Anyway, what I’m trying to say here is … when it comes to money, making it or managing it, we have to learn by ourselves or from our parents and friends. Learn the wrong tips and you can be in the rat race for a long time. You don’t have to be financial savvy but you must at least know how to make money work for you instead of working for money. Thanks to Azizi Ali and from his books, I learnt a lot (and still do).

The post today is all about Azizi’s Merdeka Sale, starting tomorrow at the Millionaires Planet.

In conjunction with the 50th Merdeka celebration, selected books are going for discounts ranging from 20% up to 50% off the retail price! That’s right; up to 50% off the retail price! The sale period is for three days only; beginning Tuesday midnight 21st Aug 2007 until Thursday midnight 23rd Aug 2007.

The first book I bought from Azizi Ali on Personal Finance was ‘Millionaires are from a different Planet ‘. Since then, I never looked back. I bought a few of his book and planned to buy another. Followed a few of his tips and even invested in another property after reading his book :) . He also has books in Bahasa Malaysia so you don’t have to worry. Buying a book on Money from a Malaysian is better as you are able to relate to what the writer is writing about.

Support our local writers and start investing on yourself. Head over and start to manage your money. Make it work for you :)

I have not managed my money well. They just flew to the place I do not know where. I am starting a blog on my small Malaysian stock market experience. Probably property investment like yours would be much better. Do visit when I started posting. Would like to have your view.

    No problem, I’ll drop by.

I invest in the stock market to but investing directly needs a lot of hard work and monitoring and sometimes it can be exhausting. I prefer mutual funds now, like ASB, ASD and the ones from Public Mutual :)

He’s also a columnist at Personal Money but I stop subscribing them. Currently only buys every 3 months, no time to read. Blogs, gaming magazines, comics … can’t have it all.

I’m buying Retire Rich which is at 40% off. It’s only RM41.90 compared to the original price of RM69.90. I was looking for softcovers but not available.

    Yesss, akhirnya… dapat juga kubuka……

Hummm kau terpengaruh? Aku, percayakan diri sendiri… cukup InsyaAllah

azwan reply on August 21st, 2007 11:28 pm:

Terpengaruh? ha..ha.. ini bukan pasal itu Dr Azhar. Dulu aku tak tahu, tetapi sekarang, ‘tak tahu’ aku tu bertambah kurang.

If you read any books about personal finance, it’s all common sense but we need someone to hammer it into our brain. Then again … why buy one from outside when we have our own, right?

azwan reply on September 1st, 2008 4:52 am:

kena cubalah berbincang dengan dia. kalau betul apa yang ditulis oleh azizi ali oleh membantu, lebih baik lakukannya bersama.

tapi, pasal duit ni kena berhati-hati, keluarga pun boleh berpecah kerananya.

saya dah lama mempraktikkannya bersama isteri.
