SAP: Live In 27 Days
Posted by azwan on 08 Apr 2008 at 11:04 pm | Tagged as: Work
If I got my calculation right
. After almost a year working away from home, away from my wife and away from my kids
, we are finally going live. We are implementing SAP to 4 companies and the first company, will go live in 27 days.
The Project Office did not freeze any leave, but were are told not to make any plans during the Labor Day and throughout that weekend. From now until SAP goes live, I am going to be very busy. That’s why the review on the top commentators of the threesome contest will be a bit late (alasan).
Implementing SAP is expensive. The money spent and the people involve are huge. Some departments, like mine, were reduced to 1/3 of the original manpowers. Too bad that the people who stayed behind have to double their effort.
DCRs (document for change request) are expected to increase in the coming weeks. The functional teams are aggressively testing all standard and localized SAP applications. This has put some pressures to the Abapers, but so far most of them are still maintaining their cool.
Me? I am cool as usual
.
We have managed to come this far and I really want to see it through. My only hope is that the potential benefits will be able to justify the cost, if not my future annual increments and bonuses will be affected
OK, not only mine but also the rest of the employees.

Walaupun hari tu kau dah terangkan pasal SAP ni skit-skit kat aku, aku masih lagi blur. Aku tanya abang aku pasal SAP ni, dia sendiri tak tahu walaupun dia programmer.
Tapi yang aku tahu, SAP ni bukan calang-calang punya. hehe..Semoga berjaya dengan projek. =)
yer… macam bat gak… am lagi lah tak tau SAP ni apa… cube explain sket..
sap nie kira mcm sistem yg digunakan didalam organisasi la kan? mhal dia nyer licence rasanya..agaknya la..aku hentam je..
berapa banyak end users ko ? ko involve the whole implementation ke ? sampai end user training ? hehe banyak la plak soalan aku. hehe
I am involve from the start until finish but not in everything. Certain parts are done by other teams. gilo kau nak buat semua
tapi adalah merasa buat blueprint document, functional specs, technical specs, variant configurations, coding in ABAP, workflow.
User training … mungkin in June .. to prepare for the 2nd company to go live, tapi not sure on which one.
End users? semua yang kerja dalam kompeni aku ni
tapi user id yang pakai adalah about 400-500 users.
pernah dengar pasal SAP ni kalu x silap pasal project monitoring kut … entah lar tapi rasanya benda ni timbul dlm 4thn lepas masa my ex-co sebok nak cari system yg suitable for the co.
psst: betul ker?
ak pon dak phm SAP apa.hihi
woo bro, lame sihh berpisah dgn fam anda, gudluck bro.
i go back to KL every weekend.
For the rest of you, SAP is a ERP system that links everything in a company regardless the size and location.
more info at : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_AG
because .. explaining will take forever
Looked at the link, tapi masih tak faham mende nye …..
ha.ha.. anyway, as i said above
it is an IT system that integrates everything inside a company.
let say the MD wants to know what is the production output for the last 2 hours, he just need to push a button and he will get all the info. no neet to check with the production manager.
or when a credit limit burst, the system will automatically route a notification to the respective HOD to take action ie to approve and increase limit or hold delivery.
lebih kurang lah bro.
Ooo… gitu ka. Ada la paham sikit.
*garu-garu kepala*
I do not know what is SAP, but I do realize that you have been logging in from a different parts of the country. Macam tu punya sibok n travel because of this SAP ye…?
ha..ha…
only 3 states, home, work and parent’s house, but sometimes when you log in at the sam place the ip shows a different place. tak tahulah kenapa.
previously when i logged in with DIGI, the ip always shows KL although i am somewhere else.
Log with DIGI? Mobile broadband la tu. Servis mobile broadband mahal tak kat sana tu?
For DIGI which is still not in 3G it is about RM66 per month. I am not sure about the rate for Celcom or Maxis
Azwan, you’re PM or PdM?
On my company where is work, they use Oracle suite la, oracle financial most of the time. I seldom see SAP excep on mfg
only a team member. If i’m the PM, then i dont think i will be able to blog.
PdM tu apa
?
my company did evaluate Oracle but i think they were a bit slow to response that’s why SAP was chosen. i dunno the main reason actually, rasanya sebab tu lah. i was in the presentations by Oracle and also Baan but not a decision maker. I decide on ’smaller’ issues :P.
hey, nice to read your post. My company is going to implement SAP soon instead of Oracle. I think it will change all current habit. All people will learn the new system.
I am not so sure about that, some users still want to maintain their current ‘bad’ habits
[…] to come out earlier. It is to be the next post after the transformers post, but i have been really busy lately with work. Anyway, here they are. More photos on our trip to Kota Kinabalu, […]
SAP should be good. Kawan kakngah Keirul tu hantu SAP. He was offered another job, but he declined sbb diorang tak pakai SAP.
I thought you should finish it by February? Good luck, I hope future days is more easy to work out the SAP.
Once you are familiar with it and once the system is stable, it is going to be easy.
Lupa cakap, dapat bonus kaw-kaw sbb SAP success, jangan lupa belanja eh??
