More Money with Nuffnang

I hate holidays. Taking a break is fun and of course relaxing, but when it comes to blogging, traffic during holidays is always low especially now. Raya Haji was last week, Christmas on Tuesday and New Year next week. Most people will be taking a week off which means less surfing.

Less surfing = Less visitors to azwanhadzree dot com = Less income

What am I talking about?

Well, I got 2 advertisers that wanted to advertise on this blog through Nuffnang. In a row! One last week and the 2nd one this week. If you’re familiar with Nuffnang, sometimes they will get advertisers to advertise directly at your site for a whole week and you get paid by the number of hits your blog received. Which means, the higher the traffic, the more they pay. Pity me :( , great offers but wrong timing … but I still have a week to pump up the traffic.

Anyway, this is what you are going to see until 29 Dec 2007 in the advertisement box below. Even though I may get just a small amount from them, I am still grateful.

Hi, Azwan,
Congratulations!

NuffNang - Redesigned

Now, lets go back to discuss about making money online.

Nuffnang, as most of you know has revamped the whole site. Not only the site has been redesigned, they have also introduced a new Digg like site and upgraded their system. Accessing Nuffnang is much faster compared to a few months back.

nuffnang

The new look is way too cool. Just the way I like it, maybe because the colours are the same as the one here. It’s totally different from the earlier one. It’s more polished and the user interface fits perfectly with the new look. Together with the new facelift, Nuffnang also introduce INNIT. A blog aggregator.

Innit by NuffnangInnit works the same way Digg works. Instead of digging the post, you have to nang it!. But you can only NANG it at Innit and your blog must be pre-approved by them (even though you have no plans to display their ads) before you can add a post to Innit. I did post a question to them whether they will automatically crawl users blog and update Innit, I saw something like that at the video preview, but looks like they will not, but based on the feedback, I think the reason is valid.

Hi Azwan,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, bloggers still have to manually post their entry in Innit. We do it that way because we see Innit as a bridge for Nuffnangers from Malaysia and Singapore to connect to each other. If it’s to be pinged automatically, bloggers will tend to visit Innit and stay connected in the community. We might do the auto-ping function in the future, but not so soon.

Anyway, there’s currently no API or wordpress plugin for this nang it! thing. So, if you are thinking of something viral, I just gave you an idea.

Impact of Nuffnang to others

Blogtitude

There’s a similar project done by the people behind HPM. However, Blogtitude has taken a step back by delaying the release of its latest version/patch and slowing down on new blogs registration. I have registered with Blogtitude a few months back, but I do not see my post in it yet. If they don’t react, with the numbers of Nuffnang bloggers, Blogtitude might just loose out to Innit.

Advertlets

Advertlets (Nuffnang rival in the Malaysian blog advertising market) on the other hand, was surely taken by surprised. I’m sure. 3 events took place, one after the other and I don’t think they were prepared :

  1. Nuffnang 2.0. They have been around for 10 months and this is their3rd facelift.
  2. Cheo Ming Shen and Timothy Tiah, Nuffnang co-founders, has been short listed as the Top 25 Young Entrepreneurs in Asia by BusinessWeek Magazine.
  3. Innit

Most bloggers are now focusing to Nuffnang which will, in a way, hurt Advertlets profit if nothing is being done. Although I said 3 but there’s a number (4) that will inflict the most damage. The massive launch of blog advertising campaigns involving over 6,000 blogs in both Malaysia and Singapore, all driving traffic to Innit. Which in return, will drive traffic to the posts published at Innit.

Whatever happens, it will be good for bloggers. More money making opportunities. As long as they don’t add into their TOS “No Advertlets ads on sites serving Nuffnang ads” or vice versa, we are still fine.

Another great idea, from the PakCik Blogger, is partnering Advertlets and Blogtitude, and then enhance Blogtitude to be a ‘RSS + Digg’ styled site. It would be great.

What do you think? Your 2 cents please.

Successfully Transfered PayPal to Al Rajhi Visa Debit Card

By now, most of you should already know that you can withdraw money to a Malaysian Credit Card or Debit Card.

I was chatting with Kucau on Monday regarding transferring money from PayPal to a Malaysian bank debit card. He proposed that I try out Al Rajhi. I told him that I recently read about those who tried but failed. It ended there, but I kept on thinking why it failed when those who tried with Public Bank cards were successful. Then I remembered a discussion somewhere about verifying PayPal account. Even though others were successful, not necessarily you would too, even when using the same credit card. Sorry, forgot where and why.

So, I decided to try my luck. Opened a savings account on the same day and got my Al Rajhi Visa Debit Card. As soon as I could access to my computer, logged in to PayPal and made a transfer of USD100. Paypal charges USD5 for each transaction.

I waited until Thursday and checked my Paypal account again. The status changed to “Completed”. At the same time, I logged in to Al Rajhi online and RM1 was deducted but there was still no news about my USD100.

It got scarier when I read about 5XMom failure to withdraw her money using Al Rajhi Debit Card. However when I logged in yesterday, the transfer was successful. The exchange rate was RM3.3125 per USD1. Ok lah, not bad. At least I can transfer on my own from today onwards but I will check with Al Rajhi later on the xrate.

Just to make sure that everything is for real. I went to Kota Damansara’s Al Rajhi yesterday and withdrew the money. See :)

Not sure why others got problem with Al Rajhi. Maybe they need to check with the bank. I am not going to do a step by step of how to withdraw the money from PayPal. If you have verified your PayPal before (if you haven check out this), then it will not be a problem for you. Log in to PayPal, click ‘withdraw’ and follow the step by step instructions.

I’ll be dreaming about MONEY tonight. So, what are you waiting for? Get your own Al Rajhi Visa Debit Card.

Facelift

Facelift is a plastic surgery procedure to remove wrinkles and other signs of aging. It can improve your overall appearance, making you more youthful and refreshed. A facelift can’t stop the aging process but it sure can “set back the clock,” improving the most visible signs of aging. Chicago face lifts offers you just that. Do you know that facelift is also know as rhytidectomy, technically. I don’t :)

The facelift is achieved by removing excess skin and tightening underlying muscles. An incision is usually made near the hair line and skin is pulled back and excess tissue is excised.

Regardless of the reasons, facelift or any type of plastic surgery should only be used when you are involve in an accident. Not simply for the reason to remove something you don’t like. By just doing your nose, changing your skin color from black to white, will make you a wacko!

Just like making money online, there are a lot of ways to do it. Choose the wrong method and it may hurt you in the end. Buy the wrong ebook and you are already losing money. Some sites have a good sales letter, beautiful and professional looking websites but the things for sale may not worth even your single dollar. So, be extra careful. Don’t let the numbers or the pictures cloud your judgments. If it sounds too good to be true, maybe it isn’t.
