Blogging LiVE From Ipoh
AzwanHadzree in currently in Ipoh. He has to train a group of users on SAP’s customized bar code program. This is part of the preparation for the Ipoh plant and also the Shah Alam plant to go LiVE with SAP next month. He was in Shah Alam the whole of last week.
He was hoping to stay at a better hotel this time, but the company got him the usual boring one, Excelsior. No free wireless internet access although it was advertised :
Internet Broadband facility for all Deluxe rooms and Executive suites.
Or maybe the room he’s staying is only Superior :P. Even the broadband access at the lobby is not free, you have to purchase a TM HotSpot prepaid card.
Anyway he contented himseft with Astro StarMovie the last 2 nights, at least there is cable tv.

SAP: Live In 27 Days

If I got my calculation right 
. After almost a year working away from home, away from my wife and away from my kids , we are finally going live. We are implementing SAP to 4 companies and the first company, will go live in 27 days.
The Project Office did not freeze any leave, but were are told not to make any plans during the Labor Day and throughout that weekend. From now until SAP goes live, I am going to be very busy. That’s why the review on the top commentators of the threesome contest will be a bit late (alasan).
Implementing SAP is expensive. The money spent and the people involve are huge. Some departments, like mine, were reduced to 1/3 of the original manpowers. Too bad that the people who stayed behind have to double their effort.
DCRs (document for change request) are expected to increase in the coming weeks. The functional teams are aggressively testing all standard and localized SAP applications. This has put some pressures to the Abapers, but so far most of them are still maintaining their cool.
Me? I am cool as usual .
We have managed to come this far and I really want to see it through. My only hope is that the potential benefits will be able to justify the cost, if not my future annual increments and bonuses will be affected OK, not only mine but also the rest of the employees.

Siu Kang Jiu? It’s in Chinese. I am not sure what it actually mean either. Ask my subordinate what does it mean, she has a hard time explaining to me .. apa la .. mungkin dia Cina celup (she will read this, so azwan hadzree tidak mengumpat di belakang). Basically, it’s an appreciation dinner from the bosses. Aku pun patutnya kena sponsor gak, but since I am from Shah Alam, ia di kira sebagai guess of honor lah. FOC.
We had the dinner at g Hotel Penang just before Chinese New Year. Food was great and I think almost everyone were satisfied.
As normally what other bloggers would do, to take pictures of food sebelum makan … macam kat kampung pasir puteh tu. Tapi, aku pula, ambil selepas makan. Ia benar-benar sedap sehinggakan tak sempat nak ambil gambar-gambar makanan itu sebelum makan. Ok lah, mungkin sebagai saguhati, aku letak lah jugak gambar dessertnya, tapi topping icecreamnya takde, sorry.
Ada juga gambar-gambar azwan hadzree bersama-sama gadis-gadis yang tidak memakai baju putih. Aku tak nak sebenarnya, tapi mereka paksa jugak. So, aku bagi syarat duduk kat tepi instead of kat tengah-tengah. Ha!

Where’s My Paycheck?

We got a rude shocked from HR last week when the Payroll Executive sent an email that January’s pay is going to be late. Argghh .. the end of the world? How can this be? Every 27th of the month is supposed to be pay day, but this time the actual date wasn’t confirm.
- Is this the end of the company?
- Is the company going broke?
- Is this the time for the big layoff?
I assume that were what most of the employees would be thinking? Will it be late or not getting any at all? Everyone is affected as the email was sent to the whole company. I have been working for this company for almost 12 years already, they can’t just not pay us.
We know that cheap and low quality products from China have a very strong effect on our company’s profit and turnover but ….

Actually, pay was late due to big boss was a bit busy to sign the approval letter for our annual bonus .. and for being involve in the SAP project for the last 12 months, I actually got a bigger share this time. For those working with the government, sorry … your bonus will be used for the coming Malaysian General Election campaign 
Anyway, I already have a few things in mind but the first thing I’m going to do is to top up my emergency fund. One of my targets this year is to have at least 6 months of our pay in our emergency fund, but thanks to this bonus, I’m way ahead of schedule.
The 2nd thing is to get a new phone which I put on hold last year. I’m thinking of Sony Ericsson K850i or maybe a Nokia, but I’m not familiar with the latest models. Anyway, what do you think?
Others, ha .. ha .. sorry can’t tell. I don’t want my government friends to be jealous.
On the cosmetic point of view, should I color my hair black? Hmmmm … , but hair coloring is haram especially when the materials used blocks the hair from getting wet. Or should I get my teeth bleach? Something like dentists Jersey, is an option. They are getting yellow as I get older. Sign up for a fitness class? It’s hot currently. I did plan to reduce more weight this year - Projek Lelaki Idaman. I think I should sit down and really think about it. It’s hard earned cash, I don’t think I want to waste it all just like that.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha to all my Muslim friends and Happy Holidays to the rest of you. Christmas is also just around the corner and after that New Year.
My project break starts today and I will only be back to Prai on the 2nd January 2008. I have a lot to catch up with my family, especially the little Sofea.
So, what’s your plan for Aidil Adha, Christmas and New Year? I will be going to my office in Shah Alam for a few days next week. On 28th, my brother is getting married. The kenduri will be on the 29th at Simpang Pulai, Ipoh. The groom’s reception is next month. I’ll post the invitation card soon. Other than that, I’ll be at home.
Anyway .. whatever you plan, enjoy the holidays .

What’s Up Azwan
Well, I was (and still is) busy.
I’ve been traveling a lot lately. From Taiping to Sungai Petani, then to Prai and back again to Sungai Petani. Prai and then back to Taiping again. There are some urgent matters that I have to attend to, and when you got both hands on the wheels .. it’s difficult to blog. Ha!
Then .. last weekend, my eldest son got his little brother circumcised. That kept me away from this blog too. My son is the ‘chicken’ type. Easily frightened. It has been 6 days but he is still scared to move around. It’s going to be a big task to turn that around. I remembered when I had mine cut off . I was 10 at that time, flew from KL to Alor Star to my nanny’s and was pampered as if I was a king. King Azwan . BBQ chicken everyday, video games and whatever I need. Games during those days were simple. You play tennis by moving a dot using two sticks from left to right. It was fun.
I am also occupied with work. I have 2 Technical Spec on hand. Working on one while the other is on hold. SAP Workflow can be weird sometimes, especially during development.
Anyway, that’s all for now.
