Google Alerts Last month I signed up for another Google’s free service, Google Alerts. So what does it do? Let say I make an alert for azwanhadzree. It sends me an email everytime Google indexes a page with my name on it. It’s a good boost for your ego. Take a look what Google sent me when i put an alert on my own name :

My name is everywhere. I’m on my way to be the next dot com Mogul. This is also one way to know whether there are people out there that are talking crap about me or not .. ha .. ha.. Let say you have lots of enemies. It easy to find enemies nowadays, with so many people stressed up you can make one instantly. Once these people press the publish button, blogging bad things about you, it will set a chain of events that will end up with Google indexing their blogs and Google Alerts sending you an email. Once you receive that email, you can start your counter attack without even checking their blog daily. How about that?

Ok, that wasn’t a good example. I don’t have any enemies, yet! Another example would be putting an alert for “Spider Man 3 Movie Download”. It does the searching for you. You just wait for the email.

I am using it to track how fast Google indexes my site and a certain keywords that I blog about. It keeps me up to date on my topic of interest. There are so many people out there blogging about the same thing but from a different point of view. Interesting. Try it, it’s free. You can create up to 1000 alerts. You can use Google advanced search queries with Google Alerts if you are familiar with it.

    nice tips. as an alternative, you can also use talkdigger to find who is talking about you out there. ;)

    @MohdIsmail, you are right on the niche. tapi kena adjust query dia supaya tak jadi garbage … kalau tak jadi macam spam gak and add to your spam list which is already high… ha..ha..

    @Matthew, ha..ha.. thanks .. but i don’t think i will ever beat or even get near him. Google labs have been producing some great tools and this is one of them.

    Many people are saying that Google is the internet Microsoft. I don’t think so. If they don’t like Google, don’t use it.
